Taking a more hands on approach Sports Therapy is perfect for aiding recovery from injury, recovering from sport or training, undoing a life time of poor posture, or just working out those day to day tensions.
Seen as a natural extension to recovery many of the techniques used will be familiar to anyone who has had post injury remedial treatments.
Sports Massage
It has been shown that massage and stretching are a vital part of rehabilitation from all kinds of musculoskeletal conditions, be it from injury, postural imbalance or neurological condition.
We will take you through a thorough assessment to find the root cause of any pain or injury, allowing us to devise a treatment plan to deal with any imbalances, and remedy the cause of your pain or discomfort.
As well as the traditional techniques of Sports Massage such as soft tissue manipulation and release, trigger point therapy and deep tissue, the treatment will also include Bodyworks advanced muscle energy techniques and mobility practices to utilise your body's own responses to improve your range of motion and muscle flexibility.
TENS & NMES
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, or TENS, is a treatment that uses electric current to activate nerves in order to decrease pain. When the machine is switched on, small electrical impulses are delivered to the affected area of your body, which you feel as a tingling sensation. The electrical impulses can reduce the pain signals going to the spinal cord and brain, which may help relieve pain and relax muscles.
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation or NMES uses electrical impulses to stimulate nerves which causes muscles to contract. The electrical stimulation can increase strength and range of motion, and offset the effects of disuse. It can be used to retrain muscles and improve muscular strength after injury or surgery, as well as stimulate increased usage of underused muscles. It can even help to reduce cellulite!
Both treatments have been shown to be beneficial in a wide range of musculoskeletal issues when combined with other therapies, and are harmless and pain free when used correctly.

We all know exercise is good for us, or is it?
Sometimes a specific exercise can exacerbate a postural imbalance or injury causing pain and inhibit recovery or performance.
Understanding this, every treatment we carry out comes with homework in the form of relevant stretching and exercise to help you continue your recovery.
Using our bespoke exercise platform you can access your program at any time that suits you. With descriptions, images and videos to help you carry out the exercises with perfect form, you can access your program from any mobile, tablet or computer.
